What is a roller shutter blade?
All of the slats simply constitute the roller shutter apron. They are designed to allow easy winding and keep a compact size.
They are designed to resist climatic elements (prolonged exposure to the sun, cold, wind resistance).
Roller shutter blade: What are the different materials?
PVC blades
Lightweight, these slats are also appreciated for their thermal insulation. We find light colors because dark PVC slats do not like high temperatures and prolonged exposure to the sun.
Aluminum Blades
More resistant than PVC, aluminum slats make it possible to build larger roller shutters while offering a wider range of colors.
They are filled with polyurethane foam which ensures that the shape of the blade is maintained over time. Note that this foam does not necessarily play a role in the thermal insulation of the shutter.
Wooden or steel blades
There are, quite exceptionally, blades made of wood or steel. These materials are heavier and more expensive, which explains their rarity on a roller shutter
