Shutter with aluminum box

In the family of custom-made roller shutters , we will find the two main versions: recessed shutters and shutters with box.

What is a roller shutter with box?

It is simply a roller shutter made up of a box and an apron.

The roller shutter box is the large part into which the apron will roll up when you wind it up. For built-in roller shutters , this box is invisible because it is inserted into the thickness of the wall, within a dedicated box

Conversely, the trunk will be visible mainly for renovations. The advantage of this type of shutter is a very simple installation, which does not require modifying or reinforcing the window lintel.

This type of shutter is used particularly when they were not planned in the design of the home (which is often the case in renovations).

These shutters have two main types of installation:

• under lintel: the roller shutter is installed in the frame of your window. We sometimes find the term “sub-ceiling” installation
• on the facade: in this case, the roller shutter is installed directly in front of the window frame

In both cases, the shutter will be rolled outwards (always taken into account from inside the accommodation). This means that the apron will go down as close as possible to your window.

The shutter box will therefore be visible from the exterior side.

What are the materials for roller shutter boxes?

There are 3 types of materials:

• Aluminum (which is the case for the shutters presented in this category)
• Drink
• PVC

This choice of material will have an impact on insulation (thermal performance) but also aesthetics (more or less discreet trunk).

Rolling shutters with an aluminum box are today the best choice in terms of thermal and design.

What is the use of the photovoltaic cell that we can see on certain roller shutter boxes?

When this cell is present, it is a solar roller shutter. Its power supply is therefore provided directly by the sun.

For the other shutters, they are directly connected to the home's electrical network.
