The thermodynamic water heater is a domestic hot water tank equipped with a small air/water heat pump which draws calories from the air to heat your water.
An additional electrical resistance is also there in addition when the air taken to heat the water is too cold.
What is the efficiency of a thermodynamic water heater?
The efficiency is higher than that of a cumulus or classic electric hot water tank.
The efficiency of the thermodynamic water heater is called COP and it is located between 2 and 6 depending on the technologies and the installation.
This means that it will theoretically allow you to reduce your electricity consumption linked to hot water production by 2 to 6 times.
What are the different thermodynamic water heater installation configurations?
The most common installations, from the least efficient to the most efficient, are as follows:
- Thermodynamic water heater on outside air. Additional electrical resistance when it is too cold.
- Thermodynamic water heater on ambient air (garage for example). Implies a reduction in the temperature of the room from which the air is taken/rejected. Additional electrical resistance when it is too cold.
- Thermodynamic water heater on extracted air. Reuse of calories initially rejected outside by single-flow VMC. Emergency electrical resistance.
- Thermodynamic CO2 water heater. New technology that is more efficient and less polluting. Works all year round without electrical backup.
