Description of the Canadian well:
To guarantee energy-optimized operation all year round, icing of the exchanger must be avoided.
plates of the dual-flow unit in very low outside temperatures.
Normally, the outside cold air is preheated with an electric heater, but it is also possible to operate without additional energy consumption thanks to a glycol water exchanger operating in a closed circuit.
The latter uses free energy: the temperature of the basement, relatively constant throughout the year, to temper the outside air:
- – in the cold season , the outside air is preheated before arriving in the double flow unit: the exchanger works without risk of icing. Blowing temperature and efficiency are improved.
- – in the hot season , the SEWT provides a significant cooling of the ambient temperature, because the temperature of the earth is much cooler than the outside temperature.
While the Canadian well draws in outside air directly through a tube buried in the ground, the SEWT uses glycol water – in a buried closed circuit – as a heat transfer fluid.
The outside air is tempered by its passage over the glycol water exchange battery placed upstream of the unit.
Advantages :
- – Simple and economical installation (small footprint). No more tedious installation, nor slope to respect.
- – Efficient heat exchange between the ground and the outside air, thanks to the glycol water.
- – Optimum hygiene thanks to a shortened path and integrated filters.
- – Maintenance-free glycol water circuit and easily accessible exchange battery.
- – Automatic regulation according to the temp. ext.
How to install the Canadian well?
In order to obtain good thermal efficiency, the geothermal collector must be buried at least 1.2m deep . At this depth, the temperature of the subsoil oscillates around 8 to 12°C in general.
To benefit from a higher basement temperature and have less oscillation of this temperature, the collector must be buried deeper.
To promote heat exchange, the tube must be placed on a bed of sand and covered with earth. In the case of laying in a layer, the spacing between the tubes must be greater than 50 cm.
It is possible to position the sensors in vertical boreholes.
