We are specialists in Bubendorff motors (both wired and radio motors ) but also in certain Somfy motors .

All Bubendorff engine accessories are also available, with the majority being in stock.

How much does a roller shutter motor cost?

The price of the engine varies:

  • according to its torque, value which is expressed in Newton (Nm). It is linked to the size of the shutter. It is important to choose the right value, without underestimating it (the shutter will struggle to raise) or overestimating it (the shutter could "crash" under the force of an overly powerful motor).
  • its type of control: if you direct your shutter motor with a switch in the immediate vicinity of your window, there is a good chance that it is a wired motor.
Conversely, is it a remote control that you can move around your room? It appears to be a radio motor, also called a wireless motor. We also find grouped Radio motors, because a remote control can group the management of several shutters.
  • Need an adapter (connection to connect the shutter to the electrical system)

The price of rolling shutter motors starts around €200 for Bubendorff wired motors (subject to price changes). Then the price can go to around €300.

How to recognize the motorization of your electric roller shutter?

On the engine, you can find different information to identify:

  • the brand of the motor (Bubendorff, Somfy, etc.)
  • Its type of power supply: if you have a small photovoltaic panel on your shutter, it is probably an autonomous or solar motor)
  • Torque is often indicated on the motor itself

Note that you can precisely identify the correct type of engine with the SN number present on the Bubendorff flaps.

How to dismantle a roller shutter motor?

It is quite simple to change a roller shutter motor. The tools needed are quite basic.

However, some knowledge of electricity may be required. If in doubt, ask a professional directly.

The explanations below are general and may vary depending on the roller shutter brands.

1. Cut off the power supply to the roller shutter and check, using a multimeter, that there is no electrical voltage

2. Lower the apron to the bottom: if the motor no longer works, lower it manually. Or otherwise try with the remote control for solar or autonomous motors

3. Open the trunk (the white part which houses the blades) to access the metal tube which houses the shutter motor

Depending on the type of installation (recessed or front), it will be necessary to remove the soffit or the face to be able to access it.

4. Remove the apron clips: this is the part that connects it to the metal tube

5. Pull out the metal tube, usually starting from the side opposite the motor.

6. Remove the motor from the axis. On certain brands like Bubendorff, you have to remove the rivet.

7. Position the new motor and possibly carefully place a new rivet

8. Depending on the brand, provide the adjustment of the limit switches as well as the remote control.

It may also be necessary to configure your motor with your home automation if you are concerned by this solution. Remember to program your centralization if necessary, with your remote control.

If you have a manual roller shutter, it is with a manual operation (rod and strap) that you can set your roller shutter in motion.

A blade on your shutter that is tired? Look at the side of the tableier aluminum and PVC. Then, the guidance of your slats is provided by a roller shutter slide .

Your apron wraps around a roller shutter axis , housed in a Box or a Titan Box .
