What are the differences between an air channeling stove and a hydraulic floor stove?

What are the differences between anair-ductable and a hydraulic

installation?

Jollymec pellet or log stoves are:

  • Either stoves that will heat your room by air
  • Either hydraulic stoves that will heat your home via radiators or your underfloor heating system.

Both will also heat your main room by direct radiation.

What is a warm air channeling stove or fireplace.

Hot-air stoves/fireplacesPanel/log or mixed:

There are still two types of products in this category, those that will blow directly into your room, and those that are ducted.

  • Classical pellet or log stoves heat your main room.
  • Channelable stoves or fireplaces allow you to heat other rooms via ducts that channel the air to other rooms in your home.

We chose the Italian manufacturer Jollymec. It offers sufficiently powerful products with air flows ranging from 170m3 to 600m3.

This ensures that you get efficient heating throughout the house. The GLOBO pellet stove, for example, offers an air duct kit that ranges from 170 (one outlet) to 340m3/h (two outlets).

The air flow rate is very important. Otherwise you will not have enough power to heat your home.

The maximum airflow rate provided by the unit is the same as the maximum airflow rate.

The maximum airflow provided by Jollymec products was a technical feature that really caught our attention before listing this Italian stove and fireplace manufacturer.

HYDRAULIC stoves/fireplaces pellet/log or combination:

This technology would deserve a complete file to tell you about the different buffer tanks, the different regulations, the different heating scenarios...For us this type of product is really the top of the top if you want:

  • use logs or pellets or both as fuel for your central heating,
  • have hydraulic underfloor heating and/or radiators,
  • couple this heating with solar thermal to make domestic hot water and/or heating

Example installation of a hydraulic chimney:

On this 3D representation, you can see that the fireplace is placed in the main room. This allows you to benefit from the direct radiation that the flames produced by the pellets or logs will give you.

When burning the pellets or logs, you will be able to see that the flames are not only the same, but that they are also the same.

During combustion, the fireplace recovers around 80% of the power to feed back into water which is then stored in a buffer tank.

The remaining 20% is direct radiation into the living area. The underfloor heating or radiators are then connected to this storage tank via one or more circulators.

There are different configurations and operating diagrams for each device. Lacentrale-eco has studied them for you and advises you to dissociate the regulation of the chimney from that of the heating.

You will then have more flexibility in the use of your heating system.

This will give you more possibilities to regulate the temperature of your house. We are in favour of simplicity of installation, so that it is as durable as possible.

You can discover in the product sheet of the thermocheminée bi-fuel FOGHET EVO, photos of the installation carried out in our Lacentrale-eco test house. We have a perfect command of this type of installation and can sell you the entire installation (chimney, buffer tank, circulator, underfloor heating, regulation, etc.. )

A hydraulic fireplace model, but it is fuel efficient! It accepts pellets and logs:

This model is easily integrated into a plasterboard box with a metal frame. After installation, it is a like a traditional fireplace.

You can see this product, its features and our feedback following its installation in our Lacentrale-eco test lab, by consulting the product sheet of the Foghet EVOIdro

Is it possible to couple this device to a solar thermal system for hot water and/or heating?

The answer is yes, as long as the buffer tank is suitable for this type of operation. Lacentrale-eco can advise you on this subject. An installation costs between 10,000 and 20,000 Euros, with or without installation. This depends on a number of factors. The first question you should ask yourself is, what is the budget I am prepared to set aside for my installation. The first question you should ask yourself is, how much money am I prepared to set aside for my installation? This investment will therefore pay for itself in the long term.

Do you have apilot installationof aJollymec hydraulic fireplace?

Yes! I invite you to read the explanations and look at theinstallation photos of the FOGHET EVO IDRO, which has been installed since 2018, in the test lab of Lacentrale-eco.com...
