Complete Heliofrance self-draining solar thermal water heater kit

The Heliofrance self-draining solar kit consists of:

  • 1 300L tank equipped with a domestic hot water exchanger
  • 1 Electrical resistance and/or an auxiliary hydraulic heat exchanger
  • 1 or 2 thermal solar collectors (hot water) with fixing accessories on the roof or on the frame
  • Regulation elements necessary for the operation and optimization of the production of pre-assembled and pre-wired solar hot water.

The water stored in the balloon is always the same. It is used to store calories, it is called "dead water". The annual (or even bi-annual) water make-up constitutes the main part of the maintenance of the installation.

When there is a withdrawal of domestic hot water, the cold water entering the tank passes through an exchanger embedded in the hot water in storage, it is heated and sent to the withdrawal point.

The volume of stored domestic hot water (only that present in the exchanger) is therefore very low and its quality is not degraded as it could be after too long storage.

The tank is charged with solar calories when the temperature probe located on the sensors indicates a sufficient temperature and higher than the temperature of the storage water at the bottom of the tank.

The circulator starts up and sends the storage water from the tank to the sensors and the water heats up.

When the tank temperature reaches its maximum value or when it becomes higher than the temperature of the collectors, the pump is cut off and the storage water goes back down by gravity into the tank.

So when the tank is hot enough or when the sensors are colder than the tank or when there is frost or a power cut, the circulator does not work, the sensors are empty of water and the system is secure.

Helio self-draining gravity drainage solar kit

The 300L tank volume, which includes a reserve of approximately 200L of water heated by hydraulic or electric back-up when necessary, is well suited to a family of 4 to 5 people.

The collector surface area of 2.7 m² to 5.2 m² makes it possible to cover 40 to 60% of the domestic hot water needs of the home depending on the consumption profile, the orientation and inclination of the collectors, the geographical area, possible sun masks...

Installation of the Heliofrance self-draining solar kit:

The ball :

The balloon is compact (Width 67cm x Depth 55cm x Height 180cm). The connections are made on the top of the tank which is the most practical installation format. This requires anticipating a tank location to make the hydraulic connections from above while allowing the solar connection that connects the collectors to the tank to respect a slope of at least 4% without making a reverse slope.

The tank is delivered pre-equipped and ready to connect.

The sensors:

The sensors are specific to the self-draining system because they allow all the water to be evacuated by gravity. The collectors are delivered with the accessories for mounting on the roof or with a 45° frame.

The solar connection:

The solar connection is supplied as an option with the kit. Indeed, site coordination often requires passing the solar connection before installing the tank and the collector(s). This solar connection must be made up of 2 insulated copper or stainless steel tubes with a diameter of 12 mm and installed so as to have a minimum slope of 4%. Do not present a reverse slope to have a flow of water from the collectors by gravity.

The maximum length of connection to be provided is 15 m to be in line with the power of the circulator (for any other configuration, contact us). It is advisable to pass the electrical cable of the probe and the earth with the solar connection. Similarly, it is preferable to work with copper bar or, failing that, to use a straight support in the case of an annealed copper or corrugated stainless steel connection.
