How to balance double flow ventilation flows?

There are generally two ways to balance the flow rates:
  1. With self-adjusting vents in the service rooms (WC, bathroom, other water rooms):
Flow rate calibrated at 15 m3/h or 30 m3/h and double flow rates in the kitchen. The other rooms are equipped with manually adjustable vents. Goal :
  • comply with the decree of March 24, 1982 on the minimum and maximum flow rates to be extracted from service rooms (see table above),
Advantages :
  • easier to balance,
  • maximum regulatory flow rate to be extracted in the kitchen is more easily reached.
Disadvantages:
  • self-adjusting valves require a pressure of at least 50 Pa to operate correctly,
Precaution:
  • it is necessary to check with the flowmeter or the pressure sensor the correct functioning of the vents.
  1. With manually adjustable vents in all rooms:
The opening of the mouths can be more or less closed according to the desired flow.
Advantages :
  • flexibility of airflows and general over-ventilation of the building,
  • less network load losses.
Disadvantages:
  • balancing requiring equipment (flow meter) and specific methodology.
  • this solution generally offered by foreign manufacturers does not allow compliance with the decree of March 1982 on the minimum and maximum flow rates to be extracted.
