How to integrate a blade kit into an aluminum structure?
In a market saturated with a multitude of pergola manufacturers of varying quality and origin, finding a structure that combines aesthetics, durability, and craftsmanship is a challenge. One might be tempted to sway the price argument, but what about the durability of the installation? Buying a pergola means expanding your living space; it means enjoying a sheltered terrace that must withstand the elements and not be blown away by the first gust of wind.
At La Centrale Eco, we believe in the values of sustainability and performance. We want to showcase the work of our craftsmen. Today, creating a unique, custom-made pergola, equipped with bioclimatic features, is possible. This allows us to work with a craftsman who has mastered metalwork, setting themselves apart with a unique product and a kit that allows for adjustable louvers.
Discover an aluminum structure equipped with our louvered roof kit, an innovation we offer at La Centrale Eco, which provides protection from the elements and allows you to adjust the light and ventilation. Thanks to this technology, the pergola becomes bioclimatic, offering optimal comfort in every season. This article explores how this handcrafted approach differs from industrial production and why choosing a custom-made pergola with a louvered roof is a wise investment to enhance your outdoor living space in a unique and personalized way.
Interview with Cyril Cotteret, metalworker from CTRT Soudure working on the creation of a pergola in Dijon

Cyril Cotteret, head of CTRT Soudure near Dijon, is a truly exceptional craftsman. He contacted us to complete a metalwork order for a pergola he designed himself. We are very proud to present his work to you today.
He is one of those conscientious and respectable French craftsmen who are passionate about their work. Therefore, when you call upon his services, you can be certain that what he creates for you perfectly reflects your personality, desires, and needs, and that it is a work done with genuine care and passion. Isn't that what we all look for when we invest so much in a project?
Today, he opens up about his project and our partnership.
Hello Cyril, so, tell us a little about your project:
Well, these are clients who came to see me for a pergola project. They already had some quotes in hand, but they weren't satisfied because what was being offered was much too expensive for them.n>
We had several meetings to fully understand what they were looking for. I listened to them at length to understand their needs and how and why they wanted a shaded area on their terrace.
I also came to their place to really understand the project.
Did they already have an idea of what they were looking for?
Initially, their project was based on an image of a pergola on an island they had found: very pretty, but not well-suited to our latitudes. So we had to adapt the project to be more in line with our climate and weather conditions.
They wanted an unusual color in their requests, and most bioclimatic pergola distributors only offered two colors, whereas Lacentrale-eco offers fifteen! They were very pleased to have this choice.
For the rest, we also decided to work on the shade with some vegetation and trees, which will then complement the shade and coolness of the place.

What were the determining factors in making the design choices?
They considered the impact of the sun on their bay window at different times of day, the space they wanted to use for spending time outdoors with family and friends, and their desire to move away from the traditional pergola. They wanted something unique, a little exotic, and that reflected their personality.
Did you encounter any difficulties while assembling this pergola?
I'd say the only slightly difficult moment was when I had to take the flooring apart again, because I hadn't done it completely the first time. So I had to do it twice because of the electrical cables that had been run underneath before I started. They weren't up to code. So everything had to be redone. I had to support the pergola with props while it was being done. I'll know better next time; it was my first time building one!
What did you like most about this book?
When clients are thrilled with the result and shower you with praise, that's one of the greatest satisfactions!
And then, they weren't the only ones because they were receiving family and friends while we hadn't quite finished and we were asked if we wouldn't go down south to do some too!! We're not against it, but we'll see.
I also loved doing a job where I could be a little creative, and not just do something simple, although I do that too!
And what did you think of our blade kit?
Honestly, it was my first time working with bioclimatic design and installing your kit, but honestly, I was impressed by how well you did it! It's really beautiful, with lovely lines and just the right thickness—a hailstorm won't stop it! Even the side profiles are incredibly sturdy; I was really pleasantly surprised. And the clients were just as impressed—they loved it!
And then, the assembly was incredibly easy; you just had to position the rails and slide the blades into them. Seriously, it was fantastic. Even the actuator is superb quality; the customer was amazed, by the way.
And if you had any points for improvement to give us, what would they be?
Ah yes… you know those washers that go in the holes of the support rails, I have two or three that have worn away. It would be good if they clipped in properly so they don't fall out.
Okay, noted! We'll pass that along. Thank you very much, Cyril, for taking the time to answer our questions and agree to this interview.
Thank you. See you soon for other projects then!
