The installation of sunshade blinds is a response to the Thermal Regulation 2012 and especially to the need for free solar gain in winter while protecting against the vertical rays of the sun in summer.
Sun protection is strongly recommended if you do not have "sun visors" above your windows and doors.
Depending on the angle of the horizontal slats, the sunshade can allow up to 90% of outside light to pass through . When closed, a blind is not a blackout system for achieving complete darkness in the room.
This proposed external venetian blind cannot be considered a secure closure system for insurance purposes, as the slats can be lifted manually. This drawback is actually a strength, since the blind's operation remains simple and reliable , without risk of jamming.

Motorization of the BSO
You can choose the GEIGER wired motor (a renowned German brand) which comes with the Somfy Uno Smoove switch. With the wired motor, the limit switches are already set (but can be readjusted).
You can also choose the SOMFY RTS or IO radio motor, which will be delivered with a Situo 1 VARIATION remote control (formerly Telis 1 modulis).
The central dial on the remote control is a real convenience for adjusting the blade orientation with the tip of your thumb.
We recommend the radio motor for large dimensions in order to couple your BSO with a wind sensor and thus automatically raise the blind when you are away.
The color palette caters to all your desires.
Here is the available color palette, to which is now added RAL 9005 (new fashionable black which is increasingly replacing Anthracite Grey RAL 7016).
For a specific RAL, a flat fee of between €720 and €1200 including VAT will be charged regardless of the number of BSOs.
Two ways to install your drawer slides
Mounting on the window frame via the connecting bracket should be used if you cannot drill through the wall.
Simply secure the pack of blades with the fixing brackets for quick assembly:
Secure the end plate to this bracket with rivets. Then, attach the bracket and the spring support directly to the lintel. Finally, attach the rail containing the motor to the spring support.

How to install a sunshade in an exterior thermal insulation system?
For this type of installation, you must choose the sunshade without a closing sheet , because normally your BSO will be hidden in the thickness of the insulation if it is at least 160mm thick.
Warning, thisThis will create a thermal bridge. Please put 20mm of insulation between the bracket and the wall, and use an external venetian blind with a closing plate .
For installation on a facade in external thermal insulation, the bracket that holds the pack of blades will be fixed to the facade above your window frame.
The total height of your custom-ordered adjustable sunshade will be equal to the height of your finished window frame/opening/window opening plus the "Height of the housing" (see image above). This is because the total height of the ordered adjustable sunshade is equal to the visible portion plus the portion concealed within the external thermal insulation.
In this configuration, you will need a minimum insulation thickness of 160 mm (140 mm angle + at least 20 mm of insulation in front on which you will apply the plaster).
> With the "Wall Mounting Guide":
The width of your adjustable sunshade will be equal to the width of your finished window opening minus 5 mm. The wall mounting guide must be used, but be careful to choose the correct wall plug for the screw.
You will need to install your external venetian blind after you have redone your plaster.
How to install a motorized adjustable sunshade for a 6m wide sliding door?
For this type of installation, you must choose the sunshade without a closing sheet , because normally your BSO will be recessed into a box with a square bottom.
Typically, such an aluminum sliding door will consist of 3 or 4 equal panels. The aim is to avoid having a central track.
Let's first look at how to install external venetian blinds on a sliding bay window:
For a 6m wide sliding door (3 tracks) with 3 panels, you will have 3 openings of 2m each. You can then:
- in 2 BSO by juxtaposing one of 4 m and one of 2 m
- by joining three 2m BSOs
> For a sliding door (2 rails) 6m wide with 4 leaves of 1.5m, you will open it from the middle.
We therefore advise you to install a 1.5m external venetian blind on each side and a large central blind of 3m. This will provide three sunshades for your sliding door.
With a SOMFY radio motor, you'll have one remote control per sunshade. However, we recommend also getting a 4-channel remote to control three or four blinds simultaneously.
The connection between the external venetian blinds will be made using the double guide, held on a steel tube or flat bar, fixed to the floor and inside the housing. This tube or flat bar can be supplied by Lacentrale-eco. Expect to pay around one hundred euros per tube, including painting and treatment.
