How to pair a SOMFY remote control with a BSO?

You have just purchased adjustable sun blinds and want to operate them. You discover that the remote controls are not yet connected to your BSOs .

In the BSO, there are two radio protocols , also used for the range of roller shutters, blinds or garage doors.

• RTS SOMFY protocol

RTS is the first radio protocol developed by SOMFY . This technology works reliably at a distance of up to 20 meters through two concrete walls.

Similar to a garage door opener, radio waves travel through walls. Unlike IO technology , the RTS one-way radio protocol does not allow feedback from the product to the home automation system.

• SOMFY IO Protocol

SOMFY's two-way radio protocol is a reliable and secure second-generation technology that features a data return function.

The products respond to controls and confirm the execution of an action. This allows the device's status to be checked on the smartphone at any time.

Similarly, in the event of an error, a message locating the problem is sent. IO technology also allows products to communicate with each other.

For example, your home's temperature can be automatically optimized by your communicating sensors and solar protection. Your energy consumption is reduced and your comfort improved.

Steps to pair your SOMFY remote control

When the BSOs are delivered, the motors are not connected to their remote controls. So we receive the BSOs on one side and the remote controls on the other.

If we take the motor instructions , the point "Return to original configuration" allows you to put the motor in "learning" mode. By doing this, we will allow the motor to receive the signal from the remote control.

The procedure is to turn off the power supply for 2 seconds, turn on the power supply for 10 seconds, turn off the power supply for 2 seconds.

By performing the motor reset procedure, the motor will "acknowledge", meaning it will move slightly.

Take the remote control, press the small PROG button on the back. The BSO will move again, this means that you have paired your BSO to your remote control.

Important

When following the procedure, be careful to do it BSO by BSO.

The risk, in fact, is that if you do this at the main circuit breaker of the house, you will put all the motors in your house into "learning" mode. Consequently, you will pair the remote control with all the BSOs.

In this case, everything will have to be redone.

It is therefore very important to properly link a BSO with a remote controlnde, then a BSO with a remote control, etc. If you do this step by step, you will be sure that it will work correctly.

If there is a problem, do it again, because it will definitely work.

Please note that if you have done this several times and it still does not work, we recommend leaving the motor unplugged for an hour and then repeating the procedure explained.

Whether it's for RTS engine or IO, it's exactly the same.

You can then adjust the BSO end stops as indicated in the instructions.
