How do you put the slats of your external venetian blind horizontally?

Are your awning slats slightly crooked when you unroll your BSO?

You want to fix it, but you don't know how?

Follow the leader. Here, we explain how to put them square.

Understanding Shade Adjustment

If he happens to have his BSO askew, it usually is. Indeed, one of the lifting/pulling ribbons has wound up and has created a loop around the pulley (mechanism which allows the ribbons to be wound evenly on the left and on the right).

Thus, it will be necessary to:

  • Set your lower limit switches and deploy the slats of your blind
  • Let the ribbons unfurl
  • Stop the descent of the motor when the ribbons go up
  • Raise the lifting tapes
  • Set your limit switches again to finish

Where to buy lift tapes?

All the spare parts for external venetian blinds are available on our site. To allow you to repair quickly, most are in stock, which allows you to receive them within 24 hours if you select Chronopost.

Step 1: Adjust your lower limit switches and deploy the slats of your blind

You need to put your motor in "low limit switch" adjustment mode to allow it to simulate an infinite descent .

Once the motor begins to lower the slats, rotate it until the slats come to rest on your window sill.

The motor will continue its movement in the direction of descent, since this simulates the "adjustment of the lower limit switches" requested.

The ribbons will also continue to unwind from the pulley, but be careful to leave them taut.

Step 2: Let the ribbons unroll

At this point you need to grab the pulling or lifting tapes (it's the same thing) and pull them slightly towards you.

You should have 10 to 30 cm of tape back .

This will slightly exceed the blind during the manipulation, as in the video (usually, it is pre-wound around the pulley).

If you have 4 ribbons, you can have two people.

Either you shoot with your hands or you take a stick (like a broomstick for example).

You pass the wand behind each pull tape.

The weight of the wand should be enough to pull the pull tapes down evenly.

Step 3: Stop the motor's descent when the ribbons go up

The wand will begin to rise and you will feel your hands move back towards the BSO . It's a good sign. That's what you unrolled completely the BSO.

To transpose, it's like a yoyo. When it arrives at the bottom, the yoyo goes up.

Here, it's the same, with the engine, the traction tape goes up. It is therefore you, in fact, who go back up.

When you have come to this, it is absolutely necessary to stop.

You should see the loop is hooked at the pulley. It's normal. There is always one at the end of the pull tape.

Step 4: Roll up the ribbons

After having stopped the motor due to the yoyo effect, keep the traction tapes slightly taut while you press the "raise" button on the remote control.

Keeping your ribbons "tight" and straight is important, as this will allow your blades to come up evenly. Thus, this will avoid recreating a loop.

At some point, you're going to be able to let go of the tape because you can't hold it anymore.

The BSO will then begin to rise in turn. Normally the blades are horizontal.

Step 5: Set your end stops again to finish

Warning : remember to adjust the lower limit switches so as not to have to re-enter the process. Indeed, if you don't do it, a new loop can recreate itself .
